Select all opaque areas of a layer

When working with images that contain transparency, you can quickly select all the areas in an image that are opaque using the Load Selection tool. When used on a layer mask, Load Selection will automatically select only the areas that are visible, leaving the masked areas outside of the selection.

To select all nontransparent areas in an image do one of the following:

  • Choose Edit > Load Selection.
  • Choose Tools > Select > Load Selection.
  • Press Command ⌘ + Option ⌥ + L on your keyboard.
  • Command ⌘ – click a layer in the Layers sidebar.
