Hi there!

I have shot quite a few photos on my Sony A7 IV, with the Sony 24-105 f/4.0 lens. The camera saves both (compressed) RAW and JPEG images. Both look very similar in Preview, except for some color differences. However, in some cases, when I open the RAW in Pixelmator Pro, there is quite a significant barrel distortion (as if Preview took the lens distortion information into account, and Pixelmator didn't). Additionally, this leads to some dark corners in the image.

I'm not sure if Pixelmator has tools to correct for barrel distortion manually, but I'd prefer not to do this for all my files (nor would I like to edit starting from JPEG). Given the difference with Preview, I think this might be a bug. Have a look at the images below.

Hi!

Normally, Pixelmator Pro should automatically apply basic lens correction to photos, similar to how Preview and the Photos app do. If that's not happening, there could be something that's not quite right. Would you be able to share the original RAW photo with us for a closer look? Here's how you can share files with us: https://pixelmator.freshdesk.com/suppor ... eam-on-mac

And could you let me know which macOS version you're currently running on your Mac?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Aurelija,

Indeed, I was expecting a similar result to what I see in Preview. The difference with Pixelmator Pro is why I come here (as opposed to blaming the camera or lens). I have uploaded the RAW file corresponding to the images above: https://upload-cdn.pixelmator.com/_DSC0799.ARW

I have tried it on two Macs, one running macOS 14.0, the other one 14.1.2. Both are running Pixelmator Pro 3.5.3.

If I can help by taking more pictures, please let me know.
