Please make text insertions go down instead of up.

It is very frustrating when I am creating a text block and carefully place where I want text to start and add text. Then when I hit return the text goes up and my carefully placed text has to be changed every time I might hit enter. Is there a toggle or setting to reverse this so the new line goes below? I'm thinking the new line of text should always expand the text block downwards by default.
