Crash when opening >40 images at once

Hey,

When I open a bunch of files at once (usually more than 40), some tabs will show no image when selected, and any attempted manipulation of an image that does will cause Pixelmator Pro to crash out completely. Sometimes it works just fine, other times it'll show pink rectangles instead of the opened image. Running the current version of macOS on an M1 Pro 16" with 32GB of RAM (plenty of which shows as free after opening 56 images)
