Removing background Tool

I am asking for an opinion in regards to using the background removal tool.

I have a series of photos all taken with the very same camera. Some of the pictures can have their backgrounds removed while others cannot.
However, the pictures that your app can remove the background are the very same pictures that we know are fraud and the backgrounds have been removed with blazing accuracy.

Can I deduce from this that the backgrounds can be removed from images that have been edited with a background layer or that there was masking done? I get the very same results with both raw and jpg. I can send a couple of pictures if it will help with the question.

Can you answer this for me as it has to do with a digital fraud case.
