I have Edited a photo with Pixelmator Pro using the Photos extension. Then I duplicated it (in Photos) to create a variation. I opened the new photo, then made my changes with Pixelmator Pro, and saved them.
To my surprise, when I tried to modify the 1st one with Pixelmator Pro again, the extension opened my 2nd version...
After a thought it may a dependence on the Photos API for extensions and not a bug, but it's a bit frustrating... Can something be done?

That is, indeed, a limitation within Apple Photos. One workaround that I know isn't the most convenient but it works — you have to export the image from Photos and re-import it. This way, the photo ID that's been linking the two images and their edits will change.
