Is something not working like it should? Let us know.

Yesterday I installed MacOS 14.4. Now when I export any image to HEIC from Pixelmator Pro 3.5.7, the Quality slider in the Export dialog doesn't change the file size value, and has no effect on the quality or file size of the exported file.

Exporting to other formats (such as JPEG, etc.) the Export dialog Quality slider works as expected.

Similar problem. Sonoma 14.4 and Pixelmator Pro 3.5.7 exporting a 17.8 MB PSD file to HEIC with quality at 100%, the file size is 231 KB. Whereas exporting the same file as a JPEG at 100%, the size 3.2 MB. Before the HEIC file would be slightly less than the JPEG size.

Im seeing the same on iOS with HDR HEIC.

Oddly at 100% quality, the same photo export on Mac and iOS vary dramatically in size. For example iOS exported the image in HDR HEIC at 9.4mb where as mac it was 43.2mb…

Also: When exporting to HEIC, you can't set a Color Profile in the Export dialog, because the CP pop-up menu disappears when HEIC is selected as the Export format. The CP menu appears for formats JPEG, PNG, TIFF as expected.

I'm curious about this as well. I edited photos last week and the exports were as they have been. After all the updates on my MBP, RAW files I shot Friday and edited today were exported as less than 1 MB images. Same camera as before, same settings, but completely different export sizes. Interested to hear what the Pixelmator devs have to say about it.
