Creating Decals for RC airplanes

Hello all

I'm trying to create decals using Plxelmator to do mockups and eventually print the results. If I have an image of the airplane (wings are white) and I have a background image (orange, in this example), how do I make a decal which would only cover 1/3 inward from the edge of each wing? Or for example, one which would cover 1/3 of each wing but not have a straight edge?

Not 100% sure I understand what you´re aiming for. Sounds like: Use Quick Selection (Q) to select more than you need from each wing then change to Free Selection tool (L) in Subtract mode - to alter the selection to your needs.
