I think that a shape building tool like we have on illustrator would be a killer on Pixelmator pro.

I am unfamiliar with all photoshop capabilities; what does the 'shape builder' do? How does it work? Do you have any examples?

It’s a tool from Adobe Ilustrator. You can click and drag to select parts of a shape to create a new one. Mostly used to create logos and custom shapes.

Without seeing "shape builder" actually work it seems to me that I can do that with PixPro, maybe a more manual process but very doable with shapes and selections. Based on your description of what it does.

But based on this terribly slow tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hM61V4eG90I I believe i can easily make a similar "shape" with PixPro. I do like how they allowed for shapes to be joinable and separateable during the build process. But even that can be done in PixPro. I think with a little effort you could easily emulate shape builder in PixPro. This is my first feeble attempt using the previously mentioned video shot on top as a reference: https://upload-cdn.pixelmator.com/Scree ... .05-AM.mov

I should have expanded the subtracted shapes for the video, but you get the idea. There is more that PixPro could do with these shapes.

I get the point, but the reason for a shape building tool is to have the ability of clicking and dragging to merge or subtract part of shapes separated by the lines. You can merge shapes and stuff in Pixelmator Pro, but advanced logo creation and illustration requires that ability.
I tried to create a complex logo in pixelmator and it was a nightmare because I had only the four simple merge and subtract feature.
With the Adobe Ilustrator version of the shape building tool I can select multiple shapes and draw exactly the part of them I want to merge in a single trace. In the video you mentioned it’s easy to be seen in acrion, but in a complex situation you would spend hours and hundreds of copies of the same shape merging and substrating each part.

Understood.
