Using clipping masks on layers with transparency doesn't work

When trying use a clipping mask on a layer with transparency, the clipping mask shape fill colour remains visible and cannot be removed. When modifying the fill or shape opacity, it removes the foreground image.





There is no way to create a mask shape for images with transparency without adding a background, creating the shape, adding colour &/or flattening the image, then using a background removal/mask process which further diminishes the image.
