Why do you have gaussian turned on? BTW, what is the source of your text? Text/Shape? What are you trying to do?

Trying to bur the text, then sharpen the edges so that the shapes are rounded, but without any of this blurring. In other words, with just black and white colour, no gradient action.

beyond janky. it works like this (see pic), but not the other way. why? who knows. why bother with two UX methodologies that *appear* to replicate functionality if one doesn't work properly. Do one thing properly and do it well. Imagine if Command+C and Edit > Copy copied to the clipboard inconsistently.
