App freezes, Color Selection tool, High Resolution Image, Grid, M1 Pro Macbook Pro

I'm using 1600 x 1440 images which have a green grid; lines every 10 pixels x,y.

I want to select the green grid and strip it out of the image, ideally with color select.

Once I select the green grid either with color select or smart select, the app freezes. I didn't time it but it takes minutes for it to make the selection.

If I crop the image it works fast so it's safe to assume the high resolution is too much for my Mac, but perhaps it can be improved.

Is this a Pixelmator Pro grid or some kind of home made grid system? If this is PixPro why do you think you can select it at all? You can't. '⇧⌘H' to toggle overlay grid visibility. Not surprised your macbook pro churned trying to find a color it can't see/find..

Home made (Well… Python made). PixPro does find it, it just slows to a standstill selecting the grid.
