Pixelmator Pro not working on Mac Book Pro

I am unable to use Pixelmator Pro as anything other than an extension within Photos on my Mac Book. When I go to the App Store, it shows the "Open," which takes me to my Applications folder. The problem is that it is grayed out. I can open photos that were edited with the program in the past but the application itself does not work.

I can however use it in Photos, it just isn't a complete editing program, which is what I need. How do I re-install without a download button?

Put your copy in the trash. Now you should be able to download from the App Store.
