Text Ponctuation

I am having an issue with Text. When I write something, the punctuation marks (eg. period, comma, colon etc.) moves to the beginning of the word. So "Instructions" with a colon types like this ":Instructions" and this happens with all punctuation. I'm going crazy trying to figure out the problem. I do use multiple languages in my work and some of it is Left to Right as well as Right to Left so that may have something to do with it but I can't figure out how to fix it. In Pages I would use the text direction key to fix this problem but It is absent in Pixelmator or hidden. Any thoughts on what the problem may be?
