Align custom brush on a curved path

I've managed to make a custom brush based on a chevron shape and use "stroke with brush" to get it to repeat along a path. However what I want to do is have all the chevons point into each other along a curved/circular path as they do in the bottom left of the attached image, however I can't seem to achieve that by using either the 'shape angle' or 'shape direction' controls as all instances of the chevron are at slightly different angles to each other. Any tips for how I can do this would be much appreciated.
