Layer shifts slightly when erasing

When I make the very first stroke with an eraser the active layer shifts by a few pixels or less.

I thought my eyes were playing tricks as it's a subtle shift depending upon zoom level. I have quite a few visible layers and so the active layer falls out of alignment with the others. After the first stroke it doesn't seem to move again until I reselect the eraser after using paint brush etc.

I'm erasing with the Medium Basic brush set to 33px, Opacity 100% and Opacity by Pressure 100%

I'm using my iPad as a graphics tablet (via EasyCanvas) connected to my 2019 MacBook Pro i9 2.4Ghz.

I'm running 3.3.3 and am hesitant to upgrade to 3.3.4 as I don't want to risk crippling my workflow. Is 3.3.4 more stable??

This seems to occur with the paint brush too...
