Ruler in millimetres but tools still measure in pixels

How can I change this please I just want to draw a 33mm circle!

Hmm - strange. I created a new file, set the size units to "mm", call the Shape tool->Ellipse, double-click to place one in the center of the page and adjust Size in mm accordingly. The trick is to add the unit: 33mm. No big deal:

I have changed the ruler prefs to mm and unlike your example, my size box still shows px.
I assume when you say the trick is to add the unit 33mm, you mean click in that size field and not something else?

No - you have to type in all letters: "33mm". When you want another unit like inch type in "3in". PixelmatorPro will detect units automatically and stays with the last used one.
