Cutting and pasting a selection artifact

Hello, just noticed that if I select an area with any non rectangular shape, cut the content and paste it back will "smooth" the selection.

The image below is the result. I would expect the pasted object to seamlessly blend with the background (which it has been cut from).



As I said, it looks like the selection got smoothed but can;t find any option to disable it.
Any clue/help/suggestion?

Hi William! You'll find the same behavior occurs in any other raster editing app, as this is a fundamental limitation of raster-based transparency handling. A simple way to go around this, if your workflow allows it, would be to copy the selection and paste it as a new layer on top of the original, instead of cutting your selection from the original layer. That way, the border will not be visible.
