HI everyone. I am wanting to move away from Photoshop and across to Pixelmator Pro. There is just one thing that I can't seem to figure out.

I often have to roughly crop multiple images. In Photoshop I can simple select the image on my mac and drag the image into the document toolbar at the top of Photoshop which will then open the image as a new file. This means that I can drag the image into that toolbar, it will open is as a new file, I can then quickly crop and save. I can do this for the remaining images and it makes the process quite quick.

Here is a screenshot of the toolbar I am talking about: https://imgur.com/a/JDXs6hV

I have checked Affinity Photo and In can also do the same thing with that software.

However, I cannot seem to find a way to do this in Pixelmator Pro. The only method I can see if going File > Open > Select Image File. I have tried dragging the image file from my computer to the "Create a new tab" + icon (https://imgur.com/a/FMJsIz2) but nothing happens. I tried dragging the image file to the document toolbar that shows the document name (https://imgur.com/a/9l6UOno), but no luck.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I just want to be able to drag the image into Pixelmator Pro and have it open as a new file, instead it will just add it to the layer of the existing file which is not what I want.

Thanks!

Hi Grant! You can quickly open a file as a new project from Finder by dragging it onto your Pixelmator Pro dock icon.
