I can't find the way to draw a gear wheel with correct teeth number in Pixelmator pro.
Once I draw a tooth on a circle, I have no idea for what to do next~!
I tried to figure out ways and functions that I can change the pivot position of objects but I failed.
All I can do is just using a pre-made gear symbol in Shape tool.

Is there anyone who know how to draw gear wheel effectively? Now I'm doing cut out JPEG image of gear wheel's contour. ^^; :disappointed:

I placed an ellipse at the center, then I made a single trapezoid and duplicated it six times (total 7) then I rotated every copy by 15 degrees then placed the point of each to the center of the ellipse ( per my image ) I made a group of them and duplicated the group. Rotated the second group 180 degrees and moved the group the proper location at the center. Duplicate the two groups and rotated the 2 groups by 90 degrees and move the point of the two groups separately to the proper center.

For illustration purposes I copied all the shapes and placed them above - then converted them to pixels for filling showing the completed gear shape. This is one tedious way to do it; it would be MUCH easier when the pixelmator pro team allow for setting shape object pivot points. viewtopic.php?t=15774

First of all Thank you !!!! good for me~! I didn't want to mention 'Photoshop' though... it's true that I have been used to it, and at the same time I understand the mass-difference between photoshop and PIXELM...

Sometimes when I'm on 'tedious process', Im thinking What the hell im dining. Im worry about that the Pixelmator pro team would change payment method to 'subscribe one'

You can build Parametric Gears in a non-destructive way from 2 Ellipses and one Star object:

or 3 Ellipses and 1 Star object:

Why didn't I think of that!! Thanks @EllenM So much easier! Now I gotta go fool with that - easier to make n number of gear teeth!!

This is fun: Image

Not satisfied why teeth are not the right dimensions - more to fool with - thanks again @EllenM !

Make sure all objects are properly aligned centred; draw with shift+alt from the centre.

Yes, I realized that was the problem.
