For some reason my eraser started doing a grey/white checkerboard instead of a white line. Opacity is set at 100% and it's a solid line at the top. What happened and how do I fix it?

Hi Kathleen, the checkerboard pattern indicates transparency, meaning the parts of the image that you're erasing will appear transparent in file formats that support this feature (such as PNG). To get around this, you can either create a new layer, fill it with white using the Paint Bucket tool and place it below your photo layer; or, instead of the Erase tool, use the Brush tool with the color set to white.
