Animated Gif Editing

Iv been using Pixelmator for years, and Iv been waiting for animated gif editing for years! I have to make my work as pngs, then upload them to https://ezgif.com/ to get the job done, it shouldn't be like this, us gif animators deserve better!

Animated GIF support is not on our roadmap for now — it's a bit out of scope for Pixelmator Pro as an image editor — but we haven't ruled out the idea completely. Maybe one day!

Export layers to animated GIF would be great!

@adamjd I ended up finding Acorn which is another mac image editor that does support gifs. Its missing some things that I really like about Pixelmator (The filters and ML Enhance) but it does things like gifs and text graphics much better!

Pixelmator Pro 3.3.8 supports animated GIF import/export but is restricted to clipping the beginning and end of the file as if a video. No frame by frame editing unfortunately.

You could open the .gif file in Preview, export each frame as .png and import into Pixelmator Pro - but this is not a very efficient workflow.

I totally get where you're coming from. It's frustrating having to go through extra steps just to edit animated GIFs. Pixelmator's been a reliable tool, but the lack of built-in support for GIF editing can be a hassle.
