Renaming project causes project to get replaced

I’ve had this problem before, but not for a while, and now it’s back. I’ll have a series of projects, then I’ll go to rename them (so they show up in a specific order) and somewhere in the process an entire project gets lost and replaced with a duplicate of one of the others (also recently renamed). It’s a problem with the thumbnail render or something, but I completely lose the project! No getting it back. So I now have two copies of the same project and I just lost hours of work. PLEASE FIX THIS!
