I use the latest Pixelmator 3.9 Classic (91112.1319) on the latest MacOS Catalina 10.15.4 and have noticed this issue for quite some time. I'm not sure if the occurrence of the issue is continuous or random. As the attached picture shows when a JPG file is opened with Pixelmator the bottom edge color is lost, compared to opened with Preview.

Great stuff, we were able to repro the issue with this file — not sure yet what's causing this but we're looking into it. In the meantime, as a workaround, exporting to PNG from Preview and opening the file in Pixelmator should work.
