New layer from selection

What features would you like to see in Pixelmator?

Right clicking the Layer the user is working from the Layer HUD and selecting New Layer will create one just above it, I would like to recommend a hidden feature while holding the "alt" key to change "New Layer" to "New Layer from selection" and basically c&p the selection into a new window, in place.

The Duplicate command actually does this — Shift-Command-D is its keyboard shortcut, though you can also find it in the Edit menu.

However, the right-click menu option does not.

I make a selection from an image. I C&P to create new layer. Works fine for the first layer. For a second selection from the same image, C&P does not work -- as Paste is not highlighted. Why? (Auto Select is checked in the Arrange tool)

I can't easily reproduce this on my end — I'm probably missing something. Perhaps you could share a step-by-step of your workflow?
