Is it possible to load a new palette so that direct colours are substituted?
I have a need for seasonal changes, with parallel colour palettes I would save a lot of time changing things around if I could swap the palettes in and out.
e.g. if I was using just 32 colours.

That's an interesting idea for a feature, but it might be more suited to a UI design app — in any case, I've added this to the feature request list.
