How do I add guidelines like on the original Pixelmator, for example, placing a guide .25 inches from each edge?

Think I found it, just drag from out your picture to inside. You''l see a blue line. Not sure how one can just this later though, still learning myself.

Found it, use the arranger arrow to drag the guides where you want them.

I tried that - selected Arrange and then clicked and dragged from outside the canvas to inside the canvas but no blue line came along with the cursor.

Have you tried turning the rulers on? I get guides by using the arrange tool to drag from a ruler onto the canvas.

Ahh, yes that works, thank you! There needs to be some more documentation on these features!

Once you've clicked to show rulers, go to the top left corner of the ruler section, and right click. There, you'll be able to add a guide at the precise location you want.
Lots of messing about to figure this out.

You can also double-click a ruler to quickly bring up the Add Guide dialog — I think it would be a great idea to create a quick tip about this on our Tutorials page to, hopefully, make it easier to find.
