Selection to Shape

Much of the time when I'm creating a shape, I'm creating it from an already existing bitmap area.

What I'd like to be able to do is select the area with the quick selection tool and then hit Convert Selection to Shape and end up with a shape whose outline is the same as the marching ants of the selection area.

Here's hoping that this can be done.
