Median and other basic Denoise filters

I finally ditched Photoshop after a decade of Adobe's abusive practices and switched to Pixelmator Pro. I love it but I've found that Pixelmator seems to lack basic denoising options. The only Denoise filter under Format -> Denoise has essentially no options at all and is unsuitable for sharp, pixelated work. Often I am creating binary masks, stencils, and video game assets, and find Pixelmator's denoise lacking.

What I'd really like to see is a basic median filter, or a slightly smarter option like Photoshop's "Unsharp Mask".

Apple's Core Image system actually has a median filter already. Perhaps adding it to the Effects panel would not be too much trouble?
