Okay, I don't understand this at all. Click on the layer I want to paint into. Press m for the selection tool. Select the area I want to color fill. Press b for the paint tool. Click the color I want in the color palette. Option-delete to fill the selected area. Worked fine for the first couple of weeks that I've used Pixelmator Pro.
Except now, starting a few days ago, it doesn't "hear" my color selection. I've had to go through increasingly bizarre contortions to "hear" my selection of the color I want out of the color swatches window. Now, the last couple of days, not only does it not change the selected color, but it doesn't fill at all. WTF? I don't understand how this is supposed to work at all?

I have discovered that the paint tool initially sets opacity to 0% when first called.

Hm. Yes, now that you mention it, I've seen that, too. I'll have to keep an eye out for that. The defaults on whole thing seems to behave in a completely nonsensical fashion.
