Newbie Question - Cut Out Subject to New Photo

OK, so this is probably so simple many of you are probably shaking your heads...but here goes:

I want to start using Pixelmator more than Apple Photos, and I was checking out the cool Select Subject AI feature.

So if I want to select a subject in a photo, then create a new photo with just that selected subject, what steps do I take?
