I wanted to share my preference on how future updates to Pixelmator Pro are priced.

Latest version in Feb 2023 is 3.2.3 (Lumière) I paid for this...
- minor updates and bug fixes on the 3.x.x should roll out for free for at least 1-2 years.

When Pixelmator Pro 4.0 comes out I'm willing to pay a one time ownership $COST again
- 4.0 should have features like
* HDR stacking,
* Focus stacking,
* Red eye tools,
* Adding gradient maps,
* Anchor points, etc
- minor updates to the 4.0 train should also be free for at least 1-2 year

When Pixelmator Pro 5.0 comes out I'm willing to pay again one time $COST again assuming it has cool features
- 5.0 should have new cool stuff like:
* Content aware scaling,
* 3d warp tools,
* Product image prototyping,
* etc.
- minor updates to the 5.0 train should also be free

Customers who choose to skip 4.0, or 5.0 because it doesn't add any features they care about can and should continue to live on the 3.x.x train for free. If Pixelmator Pro moves to a subscription model per month or something in that world like PS, I'll be bummed out and will be looking for an alternative. I'm a big fan of Pixelmator Pro and just wanted to throw my 2 cents out there as we see other Pixelmator products have gone the subscription model direction.
