Ricoh GRIIIx RAW has less dynamic range than the JPEG?

I shot a JPEG RAW pair on a Ricoh GRIIIx. The JPEG had the contrast turned all the way down in the in-camera development so that I would preserve as much dynamic range as possible. When editing both in Pixelmator Photo I am noticing a black area that has no perceivable information in the RAW, but the information is in the JPEG. I would think this is impossible. Is this a limitation of the Pixelmator Photo controls?

I tried to attach a screen recording of the behavior but attaching files doesn't seem to be working. Below are google drive links to a recording and the source photo.

Hi. We are aware of this behavior and have plans to improve it.

In the meantime, you can use a negative value for the «Black Point» slider to reveal additional «darker than black» colors.

Great to know, thank you!
