I am a new user trying to switch from Lightroom to Photo. One thing that I have noticed is that the way lighting is adjusted between Lightroom and Photo is different, as this thread points out.

Here is a comparison of the same photo with their highlights decreased and shadows increased to around the same level visually:

Photo is missing the detail and contrast in Lightroom. How would I achieve the same effect in Photo found in Lightroom?

Additionally, with almost all my edits in Lightroom, I would turn down the highlights and whites and turn up the shadows and blacks. Then, I would do a simple s-curve. I’m not sure how this works, but it brings out the details and saturates the image in a way that can’t be achieved using the saturation slider. Tell me if I’m wrong, but I think this has to do with sacrificing the luminance values by compressing them, then with the s-curve, expanding them again. How would I replicate this technique in Photo?
