Tutorial for opening Pixlemator Photo files in Pixelmator Pro with edits

I only just discovered that it was possible to do this https://www.pixelmator.com/community/vi ... 12&t=19402, but I'm unclear on the specifics.

Maybe good to cover both workflows (Apple Photos/iCloud Photo Library & Files/Finder). Maybe this becomes moot with Pixelmator Photo for macOS, but if that's not coming soon then a guide would be helpful!
