is there a way to draw a shape and then have it repeat within a circle?

Hey rbachabot, I think the Kaleidoscope effect should work here. Once you have your shape, go to Image > Color Adjustments then type Kaleidoscope into the search field and double-click the effect to start customizing it. Hope that helps!
