It would be pretty sweet if Pixelmator Photo got a Mac Catalyst port using the Mac Idiom that was announced this WWDC. I understand if you guys want to be secretive about such a project if it’s indeed being worked on, but if it isn’t, I hope that you highly consider it.

The M1 Macs are out now, and it would be great to have the power and usybility of Pixelmator Photo on the Mac.
I have Pixemlator Pro on my Mac, but it's overload in comparison to the sleek photo-centric approach of Pixelmator Photo.

Cameron, you can already run Pixelmator Pro 2.0 fully natively on M1-powered Macs! As for Pixelmator Photo on Mac, well, it'll have to wait a little longer.

Hi, I just want to provide a little preemptive feature request for when Pixelmator Photo makes its way to the Mac. It would be a dealbreaker for me if Pixelmator Photo for the Mac did not support storing files externally: that is, in folders within the Finder. What makes Lightroom Classic better than Lightroom for me is that I can simply point it at an arbitrary directory of raw image files and it will then store all of its adjustments and cached copies within its own proprietary database elsewhere on the filesystem. If Pixelmator Photo for Mac doesn’t allow me to keep my preexisting image file organization system, I will not switch to it from Lightroom Classic.

I'm not sure how Pixelmator Photo works on iPad, but being able to point to a folder in the same way Lightroom or any NLE video editing software works will be the key reason for me to jump on board if it comes to Mac also!

We're now primarily occupied with Pixelmator Photo 2.0, so that's the project that takes up most of our time. Once we're done with it, we'll see — perhaps a Mac version of Pixelmator Photo will be our next endeavor.
