Hi, is it possible to use Pixelmator to even out the colors and shadows of an area?

Hi robxznyc.
Not sure which version you are using, but in Pixelmator Pro 2 - try the following:
Go to the colour adjustments and switch on the "Lightness" adjustment - from there you can alter highlights, shadows, contrast etc.
You could also try adding a "Curves" colour adjustment, and moving the points on the straight line into an "S" shape.

Just noticed you posted this a year ago, but will still post this answer, just incase new users would like to know too.
