I need to use the stroke function a lot to get some of my fonts to look thicker. When I use this function it always leaves 
holes
and it looks bad. Is there a way to get rid of them other than paint them black?

I'm guessing you changed the size of the stroke?
Just out of interest, what font are you using there? I'm not sure whether the gaps should be appearing in any circumstances but I can't really say for sure so I'd love to test this further.
