Outline around text or graphic

I want to know how to put an outline around either text or a graphic like the one shown in the graphic (its the red outline am interested in knowing how to do). Any ideas? Image

Hi Ali.

The outline can be done by applying a stroke to an object that has a transparent background. For example the image below is four simple layers, from top to bottom:
text with white fill (no stroke)
text with 35px black stroke
text with 50px red stroke
black background.

You don't say whether you're using Pixelmator or Pixelmator Pro so:
In Pixelmator, Stroke is in the Styles Palette (⌘7 to show/hide)
In Pixelmator Pro, Stroke is part of the Style tool.

Stef, I have had a go and came up with the first pic - which is great. Image

I would now like to take this further and add in some graphics as shown in the pic on my first post. So instead of it reading "West Coast Customs" I would like it to read "North West Turbos". I can add in the graphics but no idea how to use the outline to go around the whole thing as it does in the first pic. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi I am fairly new to Pixelmator...I have been fiddling with trying to put an outline around these letters...have watched several videos but can't seem to get the menu items they suggest...help please anyone??
