I received some .psd files today. I opened them in Pixelmator Pro and noticed that something was a bit off... I used Preview to look at the .psd files and there, they looked ok, but then in Pixelmator Pro, some layers/colors seem to be much darker than they're supposed to be.

I opened the same files in the classic Pixelmator, and there they look like what they're supposed to. I used the classic Pixelmator to "convert" the .psd files to .pxm and I opened them in Pixelmator Pro, and then they looked like the original files I received.

The screenshot I've attached shows the difference on how one of the .psd files look like in Pixelmator Pro (on the left) vs how it looks like in classic Pixelmator Image

Looks like a definite bug of some kind! Could you share the original PSD with us? You can upload it to upload.pixelmator.com, then copy and paste the link in your reply here. Or, if you prefer, you can email it straight to me at andriusg@pixelmator.com. Thanks!

It'd be interesting to look at the file you're having trouble with. If possible, could you send it to us at support@pixelmator.com? Thanks in advance!

Anyone get this figured out? I'm having a similar issue. What it looks like on the left in Pixelmator, verses what it's supposed to look like on the right using Photoshop where it was originally created. Oddly enough, some PSD files from this same project look exactly as they should, while others are like this - washed out looking. I've checked that the color profiles are both sRGB/Display P3. There are no preferences that I can change in Pixelmator to make it look the way it's supposed to. Also check the PSD file in Affinity Photo and it looks the way it should there.

Thanks for the report, Aaron! I believe we've communicated via email about this particular file — the fixes from the Pixelmator Pro beta version I've sent you are already out on the Mac App Store today. We ran short of time and didn't include the improvements for your particular document but we already know what's up and we'll fix it in future updates. For anyone else having issues with PSD documents — be sure to keep your Pixelmator Pro version updated as we'll be introducing more improvements to the PSD engine in the coming months.
