Just to clarify, do you have to do this when opening previous documents or creating new ones? Because as far as I've been able to ascertain, the size and position should be remembered for documents you've opened previously. However, if you close them all and create a new document, then the size of the window is remembered but it's placed in the center of the screen.

If the position of the window is not remembered for previously opened and saved documents, that might be a bug. If it isn't remembered when you create new documents, that's more of a feature request. The reason why we haven't added this functionality is that it tends to cause trouble when switching displays – say, one time, you were using a MacBook with its primary display, then the next time, you connected to an external monitor in so-called "clamshell mode", there's a tendency for windows to disappear and be hidden. It looks like there are document-based apps (e.g. Keynote) that manage to do this so we'll keep it in mind.

Actually, Keynote doesn't remember the position – it just so happened that I moved it to the bottom right corner, which is where it looks to open by default. TextEdit, for example, opens towards the top left corner every time.

Do you have any examples of document-based (not project-based) Mac apps that do remember the size and position of the document window from previous documents for new documents?
