There are lots of things Pixelmator can't do; I understand fully why not. For me, as a hobby TOG, it's a great tool for me and there are workarounds for many situations.

I think many folk expect an all singing and dancing piece of software and it's unrealistic.

Frequency separation should already be possible with the High Pass effect we've introduced a few updates ago. Dodge and Burn tools are also there in Pixelmator Pro, only under different names — Lighten and Darken (based on the tool functions). You'll find them under Tools > Retouch. Adjustment layers are, indeed, missing for now but it's also something we'd like to add moving forward. :fingers_crossed:
