Let's say I have a photo of a boarding pass, and I want to blur our my name or frequent flyer number or the barcode on the boarding pass before posting it on social media. What's the process for this? I was expecting a single tool like in Photoshop which I could 'paint' over the desired part of an image, but Format > Effects > Blur seems to apply a 'blur' to the entire image. What am I missing?

Hi David. When no particular area is selected, the effect will be applied to the entire image. To blur a specific area, you'll need to select it first using any of the Selection tools in Pixelmator Pro, then apply the desired effect. There's also the brush-based Soften tool (Tools > Retouch > Soften) you can use if you simply want to paint over an area to blur it.

Thanks Aurelija, for the soft of quick blurring I'd want for a specific part of a boarding pass the Soften tool seems to do the trick nicely and with minimum fuss. Appreciate your help :)
