Transparent Background?

I'm trying to create a triptych with a transparent background. How do I do this so that the background around each of the 3 images is transparent?

If you've placed each part of the triptych as a separate layer in the image, simply hide or delete the background layer and make sure there's a gap between each of the three images. If your image is laid out differently, then seeing the image and layers would help.
