I believe in Photoshop there is a way to "posteriorize" an image in to a set number of "shades" 3 to 5 etc. I ma sure it is in Pixelmator as well but perhaps by different name. Can anyone help?

Hey, Mohamed! You'll find this feature under Effects. You can choose Format > Effects > Stylize > Posterize to apply it.
