Hello all, first of all I love Pixelmator pro. So what is the best way to bevel or emboss in Pixelmator Pro?

Hi Addison.
My first port of call for bevel or emboss effects would be the Style tool and Inner Shadow. The image below was created with two Inner Shadows per text layer (and a slight outline to the bevel to help it pop), with settings adjusted to taste (and now saved to my presets). You could also add a shadow to the bevel to make it look a little less clinical. I left it out as I prefer the clean look.
Hope this helps.
- Stef.

Ooh, mind sharing those presets, Stef? You can upload them to http://upload.pixelmator.com and paste the links you get here.

Obviously it's fine if you'd rather not!

Sure thing. Here they are:
http://upload-cdn.pixelmator.com/bevel.layerstyles.zip
http://upload-cdn.pixelmator.com/emboss.layerstyles.zip

If anybody wants to add them to their copy of Pixelmator Pro:
1. Download the files.
2. Unzip the files.
3. Drag the files from Finder onto the Presets bar in the Styles tool.

Finally, if it helps to see them in context, here's the .pxd file zipped:
http://upload-cdn.pixelmator.com/bevel-emboss.pxd.zip
The font used is DIN Condensed. I'm not sure what Pixelmator Pro defaults to if you don't have that.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! This is awesome! I appreciate you giving us the presets as well! Now if I wanted to do the Engraved look, would adjust these presets to accomplish that?

I'd recommend starting with the .pxd file I uploaded as a starting point, then go into the Styles Tool and play with the settings for each layer. Change the settings one by one and you will understand what they do. Then you can tweak them to get exactly the look that you want.
Hope this helps.

That's really cool.. thanks! ... anyway to do similar but with an image ?

Simplest way I can say it, is if the word was chissled into a marble stone... I was kinda thinking marble background layer.. then text with inner shadow.. but text transparent .. but then of course you get no shadow... so maybe the text fill is the same marble image ?

Where do I find these uploaded files?

JMZdenek, you should find the installed styles in the Custom presets category.

I think we're long overdue for a built in Bevel & Emboss like PSD has.
