Thanks for posting these videos alexlii! There’s nothing in those videos you cannot also do with Pixelmator. All of the selection tools to isolate elements of an image in the very same way it was done in the video are there. Refining the edges of an image and using the layer filters are available too. You have layers to rotate the ‘water’ behind the ‘woman’ just like in the Photoshop tutorial. Watching the videos has strengthened my decision to use Pixelmator more often than Photoshop at work.

Jeff,

Thank you letting me know it could replace photoshop, actually, I think photoshop is really hard and difficult for me to use, it mostly like for engineer but not for designers.

Unfortunately, I viewed all of tutorials on Pixelmator, but there are less practical tutorial in Pixelmator, and I agree it is more friendly to use but still there are something which I do not know how to do, do you know how to extract or abstract a ICON with background transparent and PNG format from a image? For example, any quick way to extract the Golden Cup? http://eventfulstays.com/blog/2017/09/2 ... hat-to-do/

Thanks so much

This took one minute using Pixelmator iOS. Using the selection tools in Pixelmator Pro will give you absolute control over what you want to select. After you’re finished, save as a .PNG for a transparent background.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks, great! You are really good at Pixelmator.

I am using Pixelmator Pro too, there are two select tools, which one did you use please?

BTW, there will another white background if double click on the image, and when I trying to fill a kind of color, it does not work, and if right click on it, it will show it is a mask, please check the screenshot: http://prntscr.com/jxeib4

what does mask mean please? I check the official tutorials, but there is no one to explain or how to use Mask.

would you like to let me know please?

Thanks so much.

Simply select the Free Selection tool and click around the image. Clicking from point to point creates straight lines. Click and drag to get around other shapes. You can mix and match selection tools so if you have to select a round object use the Eliptical Selection tool and combine it with the other selection tools. Mastering selection tools in both Photoshop and Pixelmator (they work essentially the same) will really up your photo editing game.

I have not used the mask options in either PS or PM.
