Black Friday Sale
Good news, everyone! Two of the best image editing apps are now available at the best price. Pixelmator for Mac is going down to $14.99, and Pixelmator for iPad launch promotion extends for another week. It is still just $4.99.
If you’re still wondering, I think there’s no better time than now to get Pixelmator for Mac or iPad, or even both and start creating beautiful holiday season cards for your family and friends.
Update: The sale has ended.

Want to buy it, but only if the next major update 4.0 is going to be free for existing users. Hate to buy software that is end of the line.

Do I need to uninstall the trial version before I buy from the app store?
Ausra (Pixelmator Team)
@kk, you don’t need to uninstall the trial before buying from the Mac App Store.

I don’t live in America even I know that discounts are offered on Black Friday every year. By posting comments such as “i bought it last week at full price” you only illustrate your own ignorance and you really do not deserve any sympathy whatsoever…..

I just saw this great deal and want to buy Pixelmator for $14.99 but I don’t have 10.9.5 installed yet. I’m planning on upgrading to Yosemite in a week or two but would like to purchase this today. Is there any way to do this? Thanks.
Michael
Hey there. I would like to purchase Pixelmator at the $14.99 price but it requires 10.9.5. I won’t be upgrading for a week or two but would like to purchase it now. Is there any way to do that? thanks.

ba-doyn/Michael – yes, I managed to do exactly that. you can buy this on any 10.9/10.10 system, and if you try to install it on 10.8 later, it will download the older version 3.1 of pixelmator which is still 10.8 compatible. works nicely.
the only trick of course is “how do i get a 10.9/10.10 system” – i cloned my system disk to an external drive, booted from that, updated it to 10.10 and bought pixelmator. then i just rebooted to the original 10.8 internal disk and installed it again from there.
quite a bit of work for that 50% rebate, but i needed a 10.10 test update for that mac anyway, so it was no wasted time 🙂

Interesting fact: the image at the top of this blog post—like almost all jpegs on this website—was created by a version of Adobe Photoshop. This one was “Adobe Photoshop CC (Macintosh)”, according to its EXIF data.
