My father thanks you, my mother thanks you, my sister thanks you, and I thank you. (J M Cohan, at the end of the family vauderville act)

That's terrific. Outline and Drop Shadow are now an essential part of my toolkit.

I've uploaded a new version of the Outline filter which now comports an Alpha Threshold parameter: all pixels that are less opaque than this value won't affect the produced outline, allowing you to process images with transparency, like icons for example.

Would this be possible to use i making the 'letterpress' technique?

I cant seem to get it to work for this purpose, other wise it is very useful.

What you need probably is an Inner Shadow filter.

Move it into the ~/Library/Compositions/ folder ...

I'm a little green here too.
I can't find the Composition folder in the Library. Can I create that folder or how do I continue?
Thank you!

You have to create the folder if it doesn't exist indeed, I'll make this clear in the first post.

The drop shadow filter is great! Wish I had known about it last week when I really needed it.

I feel like a doofus, but it doesn't seem to be working for me. I apply the filter but nothing happens. Any clues for the clueless?

Thanks

Hello,

I have just tried the three plugins: outline, innershadow and drop shadow.

They work fine but without a preview they are much less useful.

Is there any hope for a fix for the preview? What do the Pixelmator developers have to say about it?

Thanks anyway for your effort.

Are you sure your image has a proper alpha channel on the target layer? If it doesn't bother you, send me your pxm.

For now they're not saying anything. There are a few threads about this in the forum, but they haven't replied to any of them yet.
But it is likely the problem will be fixed in the next release, assuming they're aware of it.

I'm not sure of what to say here. Do you have the latest version of Pixelmator? Did you restart it after putting the files inside the folder (I guess it's yes as of now)? Did you extract the files? They must be in .qtz. If you downloaded them with Safari, it's likely they were automatically uncompressed.
